Dr. Heidi Monroe graduated with her Bachelors of Science in Nursing and her Masters of Science in Public Health Nursing from the University of Missouri Sinclair School of Nursing (MUSSON). She received a Doctorate of Nurse Practice in Adult-Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist with a minor in Nursing Education also from MUSSON.
Dr. Monroe began her nursing career almost 12 years ago in the Medical/Neurological Intensive Care Unit. She now continues to work prn in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit. Dr. Monroe has also worked as an agency nurse at Boone Hospital, Rusk Rehab and St. Marys in the PACU, step down unit and in various ICUs and floor. Dr. Monroe has her CCRN, ACLS and PALS certification. Her main love, however, is neurological nursing along with health prevention and promotion.
Dr. Monroe has taught in traditional and accelerated Bachelors of Science in Nursing programs, as well as in RN-BSN programs, since 2011. Her past course responsibilities included clinical teaching in Med/Surg I at the University Hospital, Mental Health at the VA and Community Health. She also has taught in online courses, including Legal Nursing, Assessment and Pathophysiology, Pharmacology and Theory and Research.
Dr. Monroe lives in Centralia with her husband Josh, a combat veteran, and their three daughters Arowyn, Avalynn and Amira. Her daughters are her pride and joy. She also loves to sing with her church’s worship team, act, attend medical mission trips, read, and watch movies. Her family’s favorite thing to do together is to travel in their camper, be outdoors and go boating.
